Biography

Life is a long, quiet river, and Gallon Drunk's trajectory resembles that of many English groups born in the late 1990s that had some reputation. Under the impulse of James Johnston (vocals, guitar), Gallon Drunk released his first album You, the Night... And the Music in 1992 at Clawfist. His bluesy touches, even jazzy varnishing a loose rock make the English name for the Mercury Prize with their second album, From the Heart of Town, the following year. Between changes in lineup and prestigious tour media (PJ Harvey , among others), the band released a fifth album, Fire Music , in 2002, before disappearing for five years. Meanwhile, Johnston became a full member of Nick Cave's Bad Seeds, which he left when Gallon Drunk re-formed in 2007 to release The Rotten Mile. In 2014, it was The Soul of The Hour that made its appearance in the ferries, a tour of track with more diverse musical influences (Post Rock, Krautrock...).
