Biography

The musical union between Wes Eisold and Tim Cossar, a former roadie and former ten Yard Fight guitarist, was established in Boston in 1999 as American Nightmare. The line up of the beginnings is quite unstable. The band that recorded the first mini album entitled American Nightmare since 2000 is presented as a quartet. For the second, The Sun isn't Getting any Brighter , the composition is completely redesigned. The starting duo recruits three other musicians and thus moves on to two guitarists, including Brian Hasek, whom we will find on the other recordings. In 2001 American Nightmare moved to a higher speed and left Bridge Nine for Equal Vision, recording the first real album Background Music. The band reached its final form with the arrival of bass player Josh Holden and drummer Alex Garcia, the fifth drummer since the EP American Nightmare. The band continues to play with Poison the Well , The Hope Conspiracy or Converge and also participates in the Atticus compilation alongside Glassjaw , The Movielife and Rival Schools .
Following a legal conflict with a Philadelphia formation bearing the same name, the Bostonians were forced to choose another. American Nightmare became Give Up the Ghost in 2003. As a result, the first albums released under the old name were reissued under the new name. Bridge Nine takes the opportunity to regroup American Nightmare and The sun isn't Getting any Brighter on a single cd titled Year One.
In 2003, the first real album was released under the name of Give Up the Ghost We're Down Til' We're Underground on Burning Heart Records. Initially scheduled for the latest Fury Fest du Mans, the band finally split up in early summer 2004.
