God Is An Astronaut
Biography
Originally from the village of Glen Of The Downs, east of Ireland, God Is An Astronaut is a post-Rock band set up in 2002 by twin brothers Kinsella, Torsten (Chant / Guitar / Claviers) and Niels (Basse / Guitar) at the age of 26. They were joined by drummer Noel Healy who recorded his parts of the first album The End Of The Beginning. The album is released on the label of the two brothers, Revive Records, and is an honorable success since even the MTV channel is interested in it by broadcasting their clips on the national antenna. In 2004 Lloyd Hanney (Battery / Claviers) took place behind the drums to the detriment of Healy, then the Irish recorded their second album All Is Violent, All Is Bright, which appeared in early 2005, still on their own label. By turning and being noticed by the national press, their music crosses the Irish border to export to the UK and further in 2006 thanks to the ep A Moment Of Stillness (co-produced by Pat O'Donnell, ex-Fountain Head) which remains three weeks in the Irish top 40. They then began to shoot on European lands and were preparing the release of the third Far From Refuge opus in April 2007. The album is released in the United States, Europe and Japan, opening doors to the band that will play to Moscow during the summer. God Is An Astronaut becomes an internationally renowned group and one of the most famous Post-Rock groups of his generation. They offer with their fourth opus, an eponymous, heavier than usual music and play again across Europe with a closed window. In 2010 they recruited a fourth member, Jamie Dean (Claviers), for the recording of Age Of The Fifth Sun still published by Revive Records, but also by Pelagic Records. Jamie's arrival transforms their live performances due to the energy multiplied by the now four musicians. For the album Origins which appeared in 2013, they recorded with Gazz Carr as an additional guitarist, but the album did not really convince. Follow tours in China, Russia, Brazil and Europe, before God Is An Astronaut returned with the rather good Helioss Erebus in 2015.
