Gorillaz
Biography
The Gorillaz concept was created under the impetus of former Blur member Damon Albarn, and comics artist and author of the comics, Jamie Hewlett, in 1990. This is simple: to create a group made of comic characters. So we find in this imaginary troupe, 2D (Chant), Noodle (Guitare), Murdoc (Basse) and Russell (Battery). Damon and Jamie formed a team to carry out their project: Dan The Automator, Kid Koala, Del Tha Funkee Homosapien (Deltron 3030), Miho Hatori (Cibo Matto), Chris Frantz (Tom Tom Club) and Tina Weymouth (Tom Tom Club). After a maxi in 2000, the band released a first eponymous album, a kind of melting pot of current music, visiting punk, rock, r&b, Latino while having a very personal originality. In 2002 two albums were released that are not really there. First G-side , collection of studio falls, B-sides, rare tracks and remixes. Follows a few months later Laika Come Home , composed of Dub-oriented remixes in which Spacemonkeyz , Earl 16 , U Brown and Terry Hall collaborated. It was in 2005 that the 2nd real Gorillaz album, entitled Demon Days, was released, in which we participated among others, Neneh Cherry, Ike Turner, Roots Manuva and De La Soul. Early 2006 released the live DVD Demon Days recorded at the Manchester Opera House in November 2005 with the participation, again, of Neneh Cherry , De La Soul , Roots Manuva , Martina Topley-Bird and others.
