Grandaddy
Biography
Grandaddy formed in 1992 in Modesto (California) around singer, guitarist, keyboard and principal composer Jason Lytle, former professional skateboarder forced to interrupt his career due to an injury. The band first released self-produced tapes before signing on a Seattle label, Will, and releasing the EP A Pretty Mess by This Band in 1996. The following year, the album Under the Western Freeway arrived in the bacs, including the single A.M. 180 , which appeared on the original band of the film "28 days later" and which contributed to the band's reputation. After signing at V2 Records, Grandaddy was released in 2000 The Sophtware Slump, which received a great critical success, propelling the Americans in the first part of the series by artists like Elliott Smith or Coldplay. In 2003 was released Sumday , followed in 2006 by Just Like the Fambly Cat , announced by Lytle as the band's last album, which splits shortly before the release of this album. In 2012, Grandaddy reformed for a few concerts, with Jason Lytle continuing to perform solo and collaborating with Band of Horses. In summer 2016, the band announced the release, early 2017, of its fifth album, Last Place .
