Griftegard
Biography
Griftegard was formed in 2005 by Olo Blomkvist (Guitare) and Per Broddesson (Guitare), soon joined by Dennis Olsson (Basse) and later by Jens Gustafsson (Battery) and Thomas Eriksson (Chant). It was with this line-up that the band recorded Pagan Altar Cometh , a tribute to him to appear in 2007 on the famous compilation of Metal Coven Knock Em Down To Size alongside Reverend Bizarre , Solstice and Spiritus Mortis , among others. The band then composed two tracks for what would become its first demo, Psalmbok , simple CD-R at first. At Doom Shall Rise 2007, the band met the boss of the label Nachtgnosis who decided to release the demo in LP format at the end of the year. On the part of critics, the reception is very favorable, but despite this, Griftegard does not take off, the fault to the other projects of the musicians. Thus, between the end of 2006 and mid-2008, the group is completely inactive. Fortunately, the Swedish are back for Dutch Doom Day 2008 and are back to composing. In 2009, the band signed a deal with Ván Records for a first album but also for the re-release of Psalmbok in CD with a new artwork and a cassette version at Offering Records. After having once again participated in the Doom Shall Rise, Griftegard finally released his first album, entitled Solemn, Sacred, Severe in 2009. The group then prepared the release of two splits, respectively with Count Raven and Lord Vicar with the arrival of a new bassist in the person of Thomas Jansson. But the musicians are mostly busy on other projects and the band does not give news for a few years. Jen Gustafsson also died in 2013. In 2015 Griftegard returns under a new line-up. Ola and Thomas surround themselves with Jonas Mattsson (Guitare), Fredrik Hellerström (Battery) and Joona Hasinen (Basse) for the release of the ep The Four Horsemen still via Ván Records. Unfortunately the Swedish split at the end of the year.
