Biography

A young Slayer retiree, Dave Lombardo did not remain idle and, among other projects (Fantômas , Testament , Voodoocult ...), founded Thrash Grip Inc. in 1993. Gus Chambers, singer from Punk, Waldemar Sorytcha, renowned producer and guitarist, and Jason Viebrooks on bass lend him a hand.
Their first album Power of Inner Strength , released in 1995, is a beautiful demonstration of Lombardo's power preserved on drums. While the influences of Grip Inc. are of course to look for from the side of Slayer, we can also bring Grip Inc. closer to a Machine Head for its intransigence, Hardcore for its revolt and combative spirit and even a Neurosis from their second album Nemesis, on which Grip Inc. is experimenting much more, alternating furious cavalcades and quieter passages. Lombardo expresses more freely his virtuosity, his battery game is the pillar of most pieces. Stuart Carruthers replaces Jason Viebrooks at bass and Grip Inc. In 1999 with Solidify, we delivered a UFO Power/Thrash with dark, angry, melodic, harassing and euphoric passages. Lombardo is once again great behind his drums and a large place is left to him especially on Bug juice.
After a five-year silence, Grip Inc. returned in 2004 with Incorporated , a much more angry and pessimistic album than the previous two. Waldemar Sorytcha was expelled from the United States of Bush Jr. for an obscure history of residence permits and it is all the anger of a group already uncompromising in its approach previously that explodes on eleven angry and intelligent tracks.
Grip Inc. is an original band, less known than the Metallica or Slayer, and works far from the clichés of Thrash or rebellion, relying on excellent production, a Gus Chambers as gifted in murmuring as in screaming or claiming, a Waldemar Sorytcha with singular and striking riffs, a Dave Lombardo in its best form and a commitment never denied.
