Grizzly Bear
Biography
Grizzly Bear is a New York quartet from Brooklyn's experimental pop scene. Beginning as a solo project (Edward Drosta - guitar, singing - recorded Horn of Plenty at his home in 2004), Grizzly Bear became a full-fledged band with the arrivals of the well-named Christopher Bear (battery, chorus), Chris Taylor (bass, clarinet, choir) and Daniel Rossen (guitar, keyboard, voice). The band's sound becomes more complex and richer, expressing its psychedelism on the piano, banjo, flute and a big work of arrangement on vocal melodies.
Yellow House (2006) is the band's first official album, which, written collectively, has an immediate critical success. Gage of quality and difference, Grizzly Bear is one of the few non-electro bands signed by Warp Records (as is also Gravenhurst for example). On the other hand, it's about electro, on the EP Friend who sees the songs of the band remixed, among others, by Cansei of Ser Sexy, Band of Horses or Atlas Sound. The Americans also made Radiohead's debut in 2008, when Jonny Greenwood declared himself a big fan of the Brooklyn quartet.
In 2009, Veckatimest , who, while keeping the band's own finesse and magnificent orchestration, presented himself as more accessible than his predecessor, due in particular to less chaotic structures and a more distinguished pop line, was released.
