Biography

Grouper is a one woman band created by Elizabeth Harris, originally from Portland, Oregon. Evolved in a "Do It Yourself" universe, the artist's outputs remain first and foremost confidential, published according to his moods. After multiple CD-Rs presenting his first works, Liz Harris released Way Their Crept on Free Porcupine Society in 2005, then Wide the following year. Dragging a Dead Deer Up a Hill (2008) amplifies his audience on the English label Type Records (Tarentel , Sylvain Chauveau , Peter Broderick , Deaf Center , Sickoakes ). Sharing with these artists the taste for experience, the atmosphere of the American oscillates between psychedelic folk and ambient drone, plunging his records into a deep and smoky atmosphere from which the glow only too rarely pierces.
Although his individual works are the majority, Grouper also appears on a few splits (with Xiu Xiu , Inca Ore ), the one with City Center (published in December 2008) is the latest.
