Hard Rain
Biography
In 1996, despite the end of Magnum the previous year, guitarist Tony Clarkin and singer Bob Catley met to finalize some demos. This new collaboration led to the formation of the band Hard Rain , of which they alone recorded the first eponymous album (later republished under the title Perpetual Conmotion ), with a programmed drums. They soon recruited bassist Al Barrow, drummer Rob Barrow (the brother of the previous), keyboardist Paul Hodson and singer Sue McCloskey to tour. This line-up remains the same for When The Good Times Come in 1999. Bob Catley, not satisfied with the direction taken by the band, soon abandoned the adventure to devote himself to his solo career. The combo is not officially dissolved immediately, Sue McCloskey becoming frontwoman and co-writing new titles with Clarkin. The reformation of Magnum in 2001, however, put a definitive end to Hard Rain, without a third opus being born.
