Biography

Headphone, behind this almost unknown pseudonym of the French scene, hides Charles H. Garabed and Jean-Michel Pires, coming from other bands such as Bed, The Married Monk or Bosco. This duo combines electronic beach, rhythm box percussion, synthesizer arrays and acoustic vibrations, to obtain experimental music, at borders linking Public Image Limited, Alice Coltrane, Diabologum, John Barry or other Boymerang. Their intrumental and atmospheric universe, a kind of fusion between electro-intimist (emotronic) and post-rock minimalist leads them to release a first almost unnoticed effort, Work In Porgress 1998 – 200- which was born in 2003. This followed Live In Progress 2004 , which was released in 2005 under the micro-label Carbon Cat Records . It's only in 2006, that you have to wait under the label Natural and Here from Elsewhere for their first real album. Indeed, with Nicolas Courret ( Eiffel , EC ), Marc Sens ( Yann Tiersen , Kaspar Brötzman ) Manuel Bienvenu, Loriseanberg (Berg Sans Nipple ), Etienne Jaumet ( Married Monk , Zombie Zombie ) and Vincent Ferrand ( Bed , Glass Onion ), Headphone is still exploring new terrains with Two Stories High , a sort of musical ode praising soundtracks to masterpieces of the cinema that are for influence John Carpenter to name but one. Eight heterogeneous titles where the effervescent voluptuousness of their industrial noisy post-rock make only one. The original duo on Parachutes, Ordem E Progresso and the Riot Ending Outro have been mixed together. Benoît Rault (broadcaster at Ben's Symphony Orchestra and Morning Star) arranged Radioshack and EK Copy. The remixing of an earlier song, Sublime Parade Reworked (Sublime Parade de Work In Porgress 1998 – 200- ) was carried out by James Delleck (who operates in hip hop fomations like L'Atelier and Gravité Zero) while Arnaud Rivière (underground activist at Bobby Moo) took over Spin Boldak. Headphone music is therefore not a music to be taken lightly, it is a music that must be caressed, felt, but which is first and foremost addressed to a particular audience, and that is certainly why Headphone has not yet managed to dig up its identity in this vast world of electronics/post-rock minimalist.
