Heaven And Hell
Biography
Ronnie James Dio : singing Tony Iommi : guitar Geezer Butler : bass Vinnie Appice : drums
Although only appeared in 2006, Heaven and Hell is far from being a band like the others. Indeed, it is more precisely the reformation of the members of Black Sabbath post-Ozzy Osbourne period. This line-up will be active from 1980 to 1982 and in 1991-92, producing four albums: Heaven and Hell (1980, with Bill Ward on drums), The Mob Rules (1981), Live Evil (1982) and Dehumanizer (1992).
At the end of 2005, Dio issued a wish to rewrite songs with Iommi. After the release of a compilation by Black Sabbath entitled The Dio Years, the band officially reshaped under the name of Heaven And Hell , with reference to their first album in common and its iconic eponymous song. According to Iommi, choosing this name rather than Black Sabbath allowed the group to devote itself to the songs written with Dio and no longer be obliged to satisfy the nostalgic of Ozzy.
In 2007, the quartet launched a major world tour, including the assault on European festivals, which will lead to the release of a CD/dvd live released the same year, Live from Radio City Music Hall recorded in New York. They then go into the studio and seem simply to continue the work begun more than 25 years ago to offer ten new titles in their own style. The Devil You Know arrived in April 2009 on Roadrunner Records, accompanied by the single "Bible Black". This allows the band to return for a new world tour.
