Heideroosjes
Biography
Marco Roelofs : singing Frank Kleuskens : guitar Fred Houben : bass Igor Hobus : drums
The Heideroosjes (translating "grassflowers") have the peculiarity of not having changed line-up since their debut in 1989 in Horst, Limburg Province, Netherlands. Being still teenagers and coming from the south (the country's rural area), they are hardly taken seriously. By releasing their first demo, In Your Face! In 1991, they made some dates and the small label Fairytale Records signed them for two records: Noisy Fairytales ('93) and Choice For a Lost Generation?!: ('94). With the first major tours come the recognition: in '95 they are present on the Pinkpop Festival and their performance marks a turning point in the life of the band that is offered a contract to Benelux by [PISA] .
While the punk rock wave is in full swing, the European division of Epitaph is flaunting the potential of the band that integrates the catalog of the legendary label in 1998, allowing it to shoot in Europe with Bad Religion, Pennywise, The Offspring or Less Than Jake. Schizo in 1999 is one of the greatest successes of the quartet that is beginning to get used to the Top 50 of the Dutch charts, and becomes in fact the flag holder of Dutch punk rock. In 2002 they released their first live album with a VHS, It's A Life (12,5 Years Live!) and their latest album for Epitaph: SINema, which was a significant success. 2004 is also the year of the first tour in the USA and the release of a DVD: A Bag Full Of Stories brings together live videos and a documentary about the band; The group is dedicated by a Dutch Grammy Award, the opportunity for Marco Roelofs to denounce in front of the beautiful world present the lack of media support for inde-state groups, and the hypocrisy of the majors.
In 2005 they signed for the United States at I Scream Records which published the following year Royal to the Bone , a best of the group destined for the North American market. A second DVD is also released (A Year in the Life of... features 3 concerts and a report on the band filmed in the United States) and in autumn 2006, with more than 1000 concerts in their legs, they went to Los Angeles to record a new album with Cameron Webb, reviving the band's studio career. Chapter Eight, the Golden State (in reference to the state of California) is in the ferries on March 12, 2007via to Sonic Rendez-Vous (distribution Overcome).
