Formed: 1998

Biography

Born of the disturbed and psychotic spirit of two unstable beings (Elie Bats & Tom Toxic), the Hellbats group made its first weapons in 1998 in a cryptic garage of the low bottoms of Montbéliard (the Gotham City of Eastern France!)... joined by a first bassist, the group's first fruits are made under the influence of wild rock bands bathing in the horrific imagery of the 80s (Misfits, Samhain ...) and great names of the psychobilly scene (The Meteors, Cramps ...).
Repetitions, concerts, warm-up tours... Hellbats refines its recipe slowly but surely, changing on two line-up occasions, sifting for a short time to a new formula (with two guitarists), then preferring to return to a trio formation.
They went through the stages one by one, collaborating with French and international specialty labels (a vinyl split with the Australian band Blue Movie on Pure and Proud Records, a CD maxi 6 tracks and an album 11 tracks co-produced by the Productions de l'Impossible and Nova Express, distributed nationally by Chronowax and then by Special Productions, the following album being licensed by the American label Hairball 8 Records), participating in renowned compilations, accompanying American and foreign bands on tour on the old continent (Nashville Pussy, Supersuckers, Hellbillys, Plan 9 (tribute official band of the Misfits), Turbo ACs, The Meteors, Demented are Go, Nekromantix, Mad Sin, Rock City Morgue ...), sharing the scene with some French bands (Parabellum, Uncomonmenfrommars, The Elektrocution, Banane Metalik ...), turning tirelessly in France, in Europe, Nekromantix, Mad Sin, Rock City Morgue ...), sharing the scene with some French bands (Parabellum, Uncomonmenfrommars, The Elektrocution, Banane Metal
The year 2006 saw the band benefit from the fruit of these years of hard work, with popular concerts and a selection at the Eurockéennes festival... which they unfortunately will not be able to honour following the tragic death of their against bassite Nico. The following weeks are very painful... after a period of uncertainty and doubts, the band still chooses to raise its head and continue the adventure... they will choose Nasty Samy as a new partner (ex-guitarist of Second Rate and Lost Cowboy Heroes, former bassist of the instrumental surf rock band Hawaii Samurai and current guitarist/bassist and instigator of the Black Zombie Procession project), and resume working from August 2006 onwards... Unleashed 'n' Alive, recorded at the Studio des Forces Motrices, in Geneva, by David Weber and mastered at Greenwood Studio, in Basel, by Glenn Miller, released early 2007 at Kicking Records. Infernal bats will be on the road throughout 2007 (tours and isolated dates) to promote their new mischief...
