Biography
It was in 1982 in Switzerland,
Zürich region formed by one of the most important metal groups
Extreme : Hellhammer . Their style revolves around Black / Death / Thrash /
Heavy. Like Bathory or Venom, Hellhammer is one of the creators
the Extreme movement, especially in the Black Metal. If less known
that their illustrious companions is for the good and simple reason that this project
in 1984, just two years after its creation,
to what is one of the major references of Metal: Celtic Frost. During their
short career, Hellhammer will release 5 recordings, 3 demos: Death Fiend,
Triumph Of Death , S atanic Rites , all in 1983 and an EP : Apocalyptic Raids en
1984. The line-up will be very unstable since seven members will be used in two years, among them two will start Celtic Frost, Satanic Slaughter alias Tom
Gabriel Warrior and Slayed Necros alias Martin Eric Ain. Basic and
mainly oriented towards morbidism and satanism, the music of
Hellhammer sets the basics of Black and Dark Metal styles with very
cold and gloomy.
The Swiss impact on the Metal Extreme is huge
since Mayhem's drummer, Jan Axel Blomberg, will take this nickname as
stage name, Euronymous will draw his from one of Satanic Rites' titles. In 1990 a first compilation will be released, bringing together several
titles from demos : Apocalyptic Raids 1990 A.D. then in 2008 the label
German Century Media will edit Demon Entrails, a double CD reproducing almost
all Hellhammer's work with original titles and versions
