Holiday With Maggie
Biography
Magnus Björk : singing, guitar Marcus Olsson : guitar Alec Ahlenius : drums, choirs
In '98, the two competitors Magnus and Marcus climbed Holiday With Maggie after playing together in local bands in the Gävle region, Sweden, a city of which they came from. For 2 years, during extended trips they each compose songs on their side and meet in 2000 to record them when Snowglobe Records offers them to release a mini CD, something done in mid-2001. The duo was joined immediately after by Alec Ahlenius, Joel Edin and Anders Björk who made their first opening tour of Soundtrack Of Our Lives. In Japan, the MCD is published by Syft Records. January 2003, the album Nice From Far... But Far From Nice appeared at Boundless Records, and the band promoted it before Marcus and Magnus started recording an album with their other band, Monastir. The recording of the second album Skyline Drive for A West Side Manufacture will cause discord within the formation, resulting in the departure of Joel and Anders. The remaining trio decides to manage like this and Holiday With Maggie continues at 3.
In 2005 the Italian label Wynona Records noticed them and first reissued Skyline Drive, before releasing in March 2006 Welcome to Hope. After a few dates in Japan (with Waking Ashland and My Awesome Compilation) and a European tour, the Swedes again slowed down their activities to travel etc., while Alec Ahlenius (battery) decided not to follow the initial pair on the road.
