Holly Herndon

Country: United States
Formed: 1936
Styles: Electro Experimental

Biography

Holly Herndon is a little bit of the American version of Emilie Simon, a resolutely different style, indeed the young woman based in San Francisco gives more in experimentation than in pop music, but relatively close paths, a master's degree in electronic music and means of recording at Mills College and a doctorate at Stanford University attest to this. Strongly influenced by artists such as Maryanne Amacher (American composer and installation artist) and Galina Ustvolskaya (Russian classical music composer), Holly Herndon's music combines dance music, experimental electronics and many "bidouillations" around the voice, his only and only instrument being his computer, his first movement album was released in 2012, a mischievous one that won him in particular to make the first part of Atoms For Peace. Two years later, she comes back with Chorus , an EP two tracks or the concept of the first album is taken over, but this time combining futuristic pop passages (a bit like Cybo ), which makes the expressions of her music more emotional
