Ibrahim Maalouf
Biography
Born in 1980 in Beirut, Lebanon, Ibrahim Maalouf bathed from childhood in music between his father, trumpeter (and inventor of the "quarter of tone" trumpet), and his mother, pianist. The family was forced to leave the country, torn by the civil war, to settle in France. It is the trumpet that will be his favorite instrument, first in a classical register and then in a much larger universe made of jazz, world music, rock, pop...He begins to make talk about him with his trilogy "Dia" (consolidating between 2007 and 2011 the albums Diasporas , Diachronism and Diagnostic ), crisscrossing the world to share his music. Far from being limited to the role of trumpeter, Ibrahim Maalouf is also a composer, arranger, conductor... he has no barriers between a tribute to Miles Davis on an acoustic and intimate disc ( Wind), an ode to jazz-rock tinted with world music (Illusions) and the composition of the music of Jalil Lespert's "Yves Saint Laurent". Awarded at the 2014 Victoires de la Musique , it reaches an increasing audience and continues to multiply projects and tours. After a concept album about "Alice in Wonderland" in collaboration with Oxmo Puccino (Au Pays d'Alice), in September 2015 he released two albums on the same day, Red&Black Light and Kalthum .
