Immolation
Biography
The story of Immolation began in 1988 with the departure of Robert Vigna and Ross Dolan from their former Death-Metal band, Rigor Mortis. The line-up, completed by the arrival of Thomas Wilkinson and Neal Boback, the Americans released two demos in 1988 and 1989 and made them talk about them in the underground environment. Marked in 1990 by Roadrunner Records label to release their first record, Dawn Of Possession , Immolation still separates from Neal Boback six weeks before recording. Craig Smilowski was then recruited as a session drummer for recording the album, and later became a full member. After several concerts in the United States and Europe, Roadrunner Records terminates their contract to separate from much of their Death-Metal bands. More or less silent for years with only one best of in 1995 : Stepping On Angels... Before Dawn, it was only in 1996 that Immolation did return to Metal Blade Records with a new record under the arm: Here In After , much expected by fans. Craig Smilowsk left the band shortly after, replaced by Alex Hernández for Failures For Gods in 1999. Close To A World Below , the band's masterpiece in 2000 and Unholy Cult in 2002, where Thomas Wilkinson was replaced by Bill Taylor on guitar. In 2004 they released their first live dvd, Bringing Down The World , showing the know-how of the band on stage among different tours around the world. With once again a change of drummer (Steve Shalaty), Immolation delivers Harnessing Ruin in 2005 and Shadows In The Light in 2007 preceded by the ep Hope And Horror the same year still on the French label Listable Records. In 2010, the Americans signed with the giant Nuclear Blast Records to release Majesty And Decay, then continued with an ep the following year named Providence. In 2013 appeared Kingdom of Conspiracy. Since then, Immolation has acquired a solid reputation within the scene as a result of its complex Death-Metal, the guitar game of Robert Vigna being there for many, but also thanks to its charismatic leader Ross Dolan.
