Immortal
Biography
The story of Immortal , an iconic group of the second Black Metal wave created by Abbat (Chant / Bass) and Demonaz Doom Occulta (Guitare), began in 1991. After an eponymous debut, the band released Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism the following year. Strongly influenced by Bathory, this opus allows the group to make its first weapons. It was only a year later with the release of Pure Holocaust, and then Battles In The North in 1995, that the band clearly developed its own personality by making a cold, ultra-velocity and uncompromising Black-Metal. It is moreover at this time that the group stands out from the usual clichés of the genre by creating this mystical universe that is that of Blashyrkh imaginary world possessed by an eternal winter.
After the release of Blizzard Beasts in 1997 the fate of combo takes an unexpected turn. In addition to the arrival of a regular and talented drummer bearing the sweet name Horgh, the spell sabbat on Demonaz. The latter, affected at the level of his right arm, is forced to stop any sustained "guitaristic" activity, under penalty of losing the use of his member. This loss marks the end of an era for Immortal.
Abbath taking up the guitar (Demonaz remaining in the band, especially in the creation of texts), the band's music takes a completely different direction. The tempo descends from a cran, the titles are accompanied by big riffs very Heavy, all wrapped in a quality ice production provided by Peter Tägtgren ( Hypocrisy ). So that's what At The Heart Of Winter looks like, the fifth Norwegian record that can't leave indifferent as it has redefined some of the boundaries of the genre. Barely a year later, Damned In Black (2000) saw the witness of the return of a part of the Hargantan. And it was in 2002 that the band released its ultimate album, Sons Of Northern Darkness , a perfect synthesis of what Immortal produced during its second period.
It was in 2003, after seven albums and a great influence on the entire Black-Metal scene, that the band split up, yet three years later Immortal was reformed for a few festivals including the Wacken Open Air and Hellfest in 2007. Seven years after Sons Of Other Darkness , a new album is on track entitled: All Shall Fall released in 2009, it is the band's eighth studio album. It is recorded at the end of the tour that ended in October 2007, and Peter Tagtgren ( Hypocrisy, Pain, Bloodbath) is again at the helm of his production. In 2010 released a live film entitled The 7th Date of Blashyrkh, which included twelve tracks recorded during the European tour that preceded the release of All Shall Fall. It is published in DVD and CD version, and the tracks are from the entire discography of the band, from Pure Holocaust to Sons of The Northern Darkness and are representative of the history of Immortal. Since it's a little bit imbroglio, Abbath is going to make a solo career and form in 2015... Abbath (very wanted), he signed with Season of Mist and plans to release an eponymous album in early 2016. As far as Immortal is concerned, Demonaz takes over the reindeer (guitar/chant), assisted by Peter Tägtgren in bass studio and Horgh still with the drums. Northern Chaos Gods was born in 2018 at Nuclear Blast Records.
