Imperial Leisure
Biography
Ten guys who've known each other for 10, sometimes 15, years. Ten guys sharing their free time to play and party as soon as possible... In 2006, they performed their first improvised concerts ('guerilla gigs') on the streets of London and started Imperial Leisure. Their playground spreads quickly throughout the country and touches some concert halls. In 2007 they opened for Gym Class Heroes , Ugly Duckling or Less Than Jake , and released their first singles demos, recorded in their own repèt' / recording room in Tottenham.
The following year they recorded a full opus with Russ Keffert and gave an overview of the single "Great British Summertime", the first reference of the Steamroller catalogue, the label they created in order to keep complete control over their music. A first DIY version of The Art of Saying Nothing was released on 13 October '08 and fired the troupe out of their borders; They played in France alongside Youngblood Brass Band in spring '09. While still playing in the street at least once a week, they run their first batch of the record and release it at the end of June '09.
