Impure Wilhelmina
Biography
The adventure Impure Wilhelmina began in Geneva in 1996 with Michael Schindl (Guitare / Chant), David Schindl (Batterie), Thierry Baertschiger (Guitare) and Didier Baertschiger (Basse). After working with a 7" and an ep, their first real album, Afrid , was released in 2000 and realized the band's ambitions. Very well received, this gives them the opportunity to travel through Europe in order to deliver their angry Post-Hardcore, obscure but also emotional because not without melodies. Mathias Perrin, however, replaces Didier at bass after Afraid's release. Impure Wilhelmina imposed his style in 2003 with I Can't Believe I Was Born In July , second album, released on Waiting For An Angel. Much more successful than the previous one, it is followed by a tour alongside Overmars, which allows the group to make itself more known to the French public. In 2005, L'Amour, La Mort, L'Enfance Perdue was released on the new label of Tours Space Patrol Records ( Kraken Oxen ), an album with even more refined melodies and a depth of composition. Thierry left the band shortly after and was replaced by Alexandre Müller on the guitar, which remained only a short time. Christian Valleise replaced him in 2007. They then composed Prayers And Arsons, which appeared on Get A Life Records at the end of 2008, after which Mario Togni replaced David Schindl with the battery that left Impure Wilhelmina by mutual agreement. After a few tours following the release of the album, the band entered a long, relative "pause". If the band no longer composes until 2012, it still allows itself some concerts and small tours in France, Germany and Benelux. Meanwhile, Mathieu Hardouin replaced Christian on guitar in 2011 and Michael Schindl was involved in the Black / Post-Hardcore Vuyv project alongside Roderic Mounir (Knut ) and Julien Leders (Elizabeth ). In 2012 the first recordings began with the unmissable Serge Moratel to lead to the release in 2014 of Black Honey , the fifth production of the Geneva combo that reveals new tones that mix Post-Hardcore, Doom and Post-Metal. Impure Wilhelmina then joined Diogo Almeda (Rorcal ) in his guitar in place of Mathieu and then signed with Season Of Mist and released in 2017 their sixth album Radiation which confirms the change of direction of the band towards more soothed tones. On the album, Sébastien Dutruel on bass replaces Mathias Perrin, whose death will be learned in May 2019. It is under the same line-up that seems stable: Michael Schindl (Guitare / Chant), Diogo Almeida (Guitare), Sébastien Dutruel (Basse), Mario Togni (Batterie) that the musicians released Antidote in 2021 recorded in Geneva with Yvan Bing which marks the return of the singing yelled on some passages. The Swiss started a tour in 2022 with Crippled Black Phoenix and Møl .
