Insane Clown Posse
Biography
Insane Clown Posse is two members disguised as Wicked Clown (vilific clowns) in the person of Violent J (Joseph Bruce) and Shaggy 2 Dope (Joseph Utsler), whose fans are named Juggalos and Juggalettes. Their specialty is Horrocore, a side of Hip Hop whose songs are characterized by lyrics dealing with more or less irony of sex, necrophilia, domestic violence, child abuse, supernatural and horror. Sometimes funny, often violent, words tell the hard life of Detroit. The band took shape in 1988 in Delray, a rotten suburb of Detroit, one of the worst in the United States according to some media. They are then called Inner City Posse and are considered as wounds to society. Crime, gang bang and dope are their daily bread. They released a first demo in 1990, which sold 19 copies and then a second to 800 copies. In 1991, Violent J had a dream: creating a sort of travelling carnival in relation to their music. From this dream are born seven albums, called the Six Jokers Card, which trace the route of the fictional Dark Carnival that Violent J had dreamed of. Their concerts look like Halloween Carnivals (which makes them very different from other Hip-Hop bands) where they get used to watering their fans of Faygo, the cheap soda they have been consuming since childhood. That same year they founded the Psychopathic Records label on which the band's albums will be released. In 1992, they met Mike E. Clark. Having worked with artists such as Kid Rock or George Clinton, he produced most of Insane Clown Posse's and Twiztid's albums (group launched by ICP). Carnival Of Carnage, the first of the Six Jokers Cards, was released the same year. Following The Ringmaster in 1994, The Riddle Box in 1995, The Great Milenko and The Amazing Jeckel Brothers in 1998 and 1999 both dedicated platinum disc, then The Wraith: Shangri-La in 2002 and Hell's Pit in 2004, thus closing the cycle undertaken more than ten years earlier, Bizzar and Bizaar double disc released in 2000 not part of the six-card cycle. Following The Tempest in 2007 and Bang! Pow! Boom in 2009, still in collaboration with Mike E Clark. In addition to this discography provided, the band will have released a multitude of eps, compilations and remixes, rich in featuring throughout their career. Among the most notable: Kid Rock, Esham, Alice Cooper, Slash, O.D.B, Snoop Dogg. Insane Clown Posse has also filmed with bands like Biohazard or Coal Chamber and has been filming with Big Money Hustlas , a self-produced film released in 2000, Death Racers in 2008 and Big Money Rustlas in 2009. As a professional wrestler, in 1998 they will even stage their official wrestling championship: the Juggalo Championship Wrestling. Group with multiple controversies, with an impressive discography with a longevity of more than twenty years, Insane Clown Posse has created a lifestyle that goes beyond their music through their crazy fans and is currently one of the most important underground bands in the United States.
