Isengard
Biography
Isengard is a one man band from Black Norwegian directed Folk created by Fenriz de Darkthrone in 1989. It was by composing for Darkthrone that Fenriz had the idea of giving birth to Isengard, some of his compositions did not correspond to the style that the band developed at the time, so he decided to keep them in order to rework them alone. In 1989 he directed a demo, Spectres Over Gorgoroth, and then two more in 1991 and 1993, Horizons and Vanderen. These 3 demos will be regrouped on a compilation, Vinterskugge , which was released in 1994 at Deaf Records and then at Peaceville Records. The music of Isengard sounds Black Metal roots over this period, Fenriz manages all the instruments and vocal parts. In 1995 released the only album of this solo project, Høstmørke, at Moonfog, the label of his friend Stayr (Satyricon ), it is directed Folk and is not without recalling to a lesser extent Storm's music. Shortly after the release of Høstmørke Fenriz ends Isengard . The name Isengard is a reference to the fortress of the same name present in Middle Earth where a part of the events of the Lord of the Rings takes place. Fenriz and the Norwegian Black Metal in general are very inspired by the universe of J.R.R. Tolkien.
