Biography

Originating from Grembergen, Janez Detd is the largest Belgian punk-rock band, enjoying good popularity mainly in the north of the country. Taken by its leader Nikolas Van Der Veken, singer/guitarist and composer of the majority of the songs, the band released its first album Bleenies and Blockheads (whose lyrics are very sex oriented) in 1998 under the name of Janes Detd (for "Determined"). The quartet is gaining momentum thanks to its good stage performances, especially on the scenes of Belgium's big festivals such as Werchter and Pukkelpop. He changed his name to Janez Detd and continued his momentum with an eponymous album in 2000, containing a cover of A-Ha's "Take On Me". Unfortunately, the group's career was halted a short time later, the flight of all their equipment into their rehearsal room being the cause. However, Janez Detd will raise his head thanks to a support concert organized by radios and local groups. The adventure will give rise to what will be their most heavy album : Anti-Anthems . The latter contains another recovery, that of "Mala Vida" of the Mano Negra, which they consider to be the largest punk group. They also cite as other references The Offspring, Good Charlotte, Bad Religion, Hatebreed or Blink-182. The scene remains their main engine, they spin a lot in Belgium as well as in the Netherlands, and are the first part of a lot of sizes: Pennywise, Limp Bizkit, The Offspring, AFI,... They come back in 2005 with Killing Me , more melancholy with an emo touch. They then assaulted the United States with a mixture of their previous two opus and several overseas dates. For Better For Worse was born in 2008 and stands out as more poppy than Janez Detd had previously produced. The album received a good reception and the video of the first single "My Life / My Way" reached after a little more than a month only the bar of 100,000 visits on Youtube.
