Biography

Jay Munly aka Jayson Thompson is a singular artist, not to say atypical. While he was born and growing in Canada, his path later led him to Colorado, United States, where he is now considered one of the most active artists involved in creating and developing the Denver Sound, an alternative stream of Folk Music that is quite clearly distinguishable from typical patterns. At the edge of Americana, Gospel, Folk Music, he insflects the genre, alone or accompanied, since the mid-1990s, a blackness and an unprecedented emphasis that is not without rappelling without fully attaching to it that of another indispensable actor of the local scene: David Eugene Edwards (16 Horsepower, Woven Hand). Signed since 2004 at Alternative Tenacles, the label of Jello Biafra (ex-Dead Kennedys), Jay Munly returns in 2010 with Petr & the Wulf , the first jet of a series of concept albums built around the theme of Luparcalia, an imaginary city and the life of its inhabitants.
