Biography

It was in Oxford in 2006 that Hugo Manuel, then 20 years old, formed Jonquil with Sam Hudson Scott (Solid Gold Dragons) and Robin McDiarmid, Dominic Hand and Duncan Tootill later joined the formation. During that same year released the 1st album Sunny Casinos, with very acoustic folk tunes, followed a year later by a Lion in the same orientation, but clearly more pop and sleek, carried by the eponymous song that appeared in an episode of the British series Skins. In 2008 and 2009 the combo is released respectively Whistle Low EP in the continuity of the previous opus, and One Hundred Suns which reveals a more rock music. The year 2010 sees Hugo Manuel embarking on a solo electro/synth-pop project under the nickname Chad Valley, will release two EPs. Jonquil resurfaced in 2012 after signing on Blessing Force Records ( Trophy Wife ) with Point Of Go , a new effort to tropical sounds, on which the folk side with which they had started 6 years earlier is abandoned, he receives positive criticism and offers the group a new notoriety. In the wake of Jonquil released an EP from the remix of the song Mexico , before going into silence radio, Hugo Manuel devoted himself more to his solo project whose reputation is growing.
