Jr Ewing
Biography
Jr Ewing arrived straight from the freshness of Oslo, Norway and mistreated the larsens since 1998. Then, their business card ensures the production of a lively hardcore with very pronounced rock'n'roll and noise accents in a hysterical tone voice.
The band was formed under the impulse of Andreas (chant) and Erlend (guitar), at the time accompanied by Martin (guitar), Jonas (battery) and Aaron at the bass. Their ultra-percussive game brings them closer to formations like Drive Like Jehu, Denied or At The Drive-In. The band quickly released their first cake, the EP Integritas.Consonantia.Claritas via their own Dance of Days structure in 1998. A year later, the JR Ewing chained with two splits, the first with the Syc group on the Belgian label Fallen Angel Records and the second with the Break group. Finally, in 2001, the band released a split with This Machine Kills under the American label Dim Mak. These first three releases will quickly be exhausted and released under a single disc in 2000: The Singles Collected , also exhausted to date.
In addition to their regular tours that reinforce the band's furious reputation, in 1999 JR Ewing released their first master piece with Calling in Dead in 2000, whose buzz was quickly reinforced in 2001 by the release of EP 7 tracks The Perfect Drama. The JR Ewings therefore make themselves known throughout Europe and the indie scene is waiting only for confirmation of their talent... This will be done with the release of the excellent Ride Paranoia in 2003 on the label GSL (The Mars Volta ...), which allows the group to establish itself as one of the most active European bands of the moment. The line-up finally stabilized with now Hakon on guitar, Peter (aka Snekker) on bass and the excellent Kenneth on drums.
In 2005 the band announced its signature with Sony/BMG for the Norwegian distribution of its new album Maelstrom showing a new face of the band.
Despite the critical success of this last opus, the quintet decided to end his career in early May 2006. However, a DVD is accurate and they will honour their confirmed dates for various European festivals in the summer of 2006, as well as a farewell tour in Central Europe.
