Biography

Jurassic 5 formed in 1993 in Los Angeles the union of two previous groups: Rebels Of Rhythm and Unity Committee. The band composed of four mcs responding to the pseudos of Chali 2na, Zaakir, Akil and Marc 7 and two djs, Cut Chemist and Nu-Mark , perform some shows at the Good Life Café at the open mic parties before formalizing the thing with a first maxi, Unified Rebelution in 1995 which quickly made a name among purists. 1997 propels the group thanks to the release of their Ep at Rumble which sells tens of thousands of copies all over the world, republished a year later with some extra titles in the form of Lp . The audience then saw a young Hip-Hop old school band radically cutting with the scene on the west side of the time. Jurassic 5 signed in 1999 at Interscope Records, which later produced all the band's releases. It was a year later that the six of Los Angeles released Quality Control with content similar to the Ep, still as much appreciated by critics. Then begins a series of long tours over two years and Cut Chemist embarks on solo projects. In October 2002, Jurassic 5 returned with Power In Numbers more mature and committed than before. They even performed at the reopening of the Lollapalooza festival in summer 2003 but turned without Cut Chemist since the dj decided to devote himself only to his solo career. 2006 see the fourth and last release of the band, Feedback, since barely a year later the rappers split for reasons of discord between the members according to Zaakir. Still a band that has scored the minds after more than 17 years of activity in the world of Hip-Hop (including many underground) and four albums of quality.
