Kalmah
Biography
Kalmah's beginnings began in the early 1990s as Ancestor . Pekka Kokko (Chant / Guitar), Petri Sankala (Battery) and Antti Kokko (Guitare). The trio, constantly changing bassist, recorded five demos between 1991 and 1998 before changing musical orientation by recruiting a keyboardist named Pasi Hiltula in 1998. Kalmah was born. The band then began the composition of a promotional record with Svieri Obraza's song and then signed his first contract with Spikefarm Records for the recording of Swamplord in 2000 supported by Altti Veteläinen their new bassist. Their style, close to Children Of Bodom or Eternal Tears Of Sorrow (with whom they share some members) with its epic and folk melodies seduces and their first album is rather well received. Following the departure of Altti Veteläinen and Petri Sankala, quickly replaced by Timo Lehtinen ( Catamenia ) at bass and Janne Kusmin ( Catamenia ) at drums, Kalmah recorded They Will Return , their second opus which appeared in 2002. After a short tour in Finland and a visit to Wacken, Swampsong was released very quickly the following year. But in 2004, keyboard player Pasi Hiltula was replaced by Marco Sneck, then Kalmah recorded The B Lack Waltz, which was released in 2006 and remains Finland's best success. The combo features two albums in 2008 and 2010, For The Revolution and 12 Gauge, and began its first international tour in 2008.
