Karma To Burn
Biography
Karma To Burn was born in West Virginia (USA) in the mid-1990s. In the form of a trio (guitar, bass, drums) playing a heavy rock strongly influenced by the stoner and fully instrumental. Signed in 1996 by Roadrunner Records the band is forced by the label to hire a singer, John Garcia ( Kyuss ) almost took on this role but he will eventually be a friend of the trio Jay Jarosz who will take care of the song. They released an album with him, eponymous, before thanking him for returning to an instrumental rock. In fact Roadrunner will not release their second album, Wild, Wonderful... Purgatory, USA. After a third album, Almost Heathen , released in 2001 the band no longer gives sign of life. Each member continues his musical activities in different projects (Year Long Disaster , Nebula , Speedealer , Treasure Cat ) and finally in 2009 Karma To Burn announces his return with the same line up. The band then followed the tours (including Hellfest or Download Festival) and recorded a fourth album, Appalachian Incantation , released in 2010 and recorded by Scott Reader (by Kyuss ).Always instrumental, except for a title with Daniel Davies (Year Long Disaster ), and as usual the tracks of the songs are simple numbers (except those with lyrics). The group announced that it had recorded titles with John Garcia and could participate in its Garcia vs. Garcia project. After sufficiently worn the boards, the trio released the soberly titled V in 2011, including three songs sung, then an eponymous EP in 2013 at Heavy Psycho Records, just after drummer Rob Oswald left. Bassist Rich Mullins left just after the EP was released. Both will be replaced by Rob Halkett of The Operated on bass and a certain Evan Devine ( Ancient Shores ) on drums, to compose the sixth album Arch Stanton, released in 2014 and hosted by Deepdive Records. A new EP ( Mountain Czar ) will follow in 2016, while Eric von Clutter takes a stand behind the bass, and finally demo reissues ( Thee Rabbit Hole ) will be released in 2021. Unfortunately Will Mecum, the only founding and permanent member of Karma To Burn, died on April 29, 2021, which probably also marks the death of the group.
