Biography

Originally from Perth (Australia), Karnivool was born in 1997 as a group of high school students. It is only the following year that the quartet takes the stage name that we know him today, following the putsch of Ian Kenny (chant) who at the same time makes the big household in the lineup. In 1999, Karnivool passed the stage of the first EP, still in the form of a quartet and then returned two years later with a second, better received and more recognized. At the time, Karnivool's configuration remains unstable and it will still take 3 years for the band to lock its formation around Ian Kenny and Andrew Goddard (guitar) with the successive arrival of a new bass player, a second guitarist and a new drummer. So it's five that the adventure continues and that is recorded Themata, the first Australian album very marked by Andrew Goddard's work and obvious influences such as Tool. Karnivool returns four years later with a second effort under his arm, more thought and recorded at five than his predecessor and marking a new maturity. Sound Awake released in June 2009.
