Biography

It was early 1994 that Gash and Obsidian C. ( Satyricon, Thorns ) formed Ildskjaer. Respectfully guitarist-singer and drummer, the two Norwegians began to compose in the vein of a black metal as he did a lot after the explosion of the movement of the early 1990s. In order to go further, two members join the entity: Varrach as drummer (relegating Obsidian to his original instrument, guitar) and Vyl as bassist. With problems in finding a rehearsal room, and helping inertia, the band manages to release its first demo, Skygger Av Sorg, only in 1996. Moreover, it will be of such poor quality that the training will prefer not even to sell it, even to its closest relatives. Nevertheless, some copies are sent to labels and Demonon Productions offers the opportunity to re-record its demo, and to show its potential. The idea works since the 4 Norwegians sign a contract with Avantgarde Music for several albums, the first of which is soon to be released. Through Times Of War came into being in 1997 and featured in a very good black metal compared to the time in question, both dense and epic, led by unsightly and well-seen melodies, which would in a way become the trademark of the formation, against a background of rhythmic bestiality. After several months in Scandinavia with Thorns in particular, the combo began the design of its second disc. With a desire to "take more distance with the fashion of the Norwegian black metal" (always this obsession of the trends) and according to his sayings, oriented towards more Swedish sounds, more licked, with a desire to bring death and thrash touches to the whole. In fact, the black metal roots of Agnen – At Journey Through The Dark are still the most discernable, especially since the production of this one, although recorded in the same studio as his predecessor, is much deafer typical of this current. If you have to look for a relationship with the Swedish scene on this evolution, it would not be in the direction of this melodic death scene so clean, but rather on the side of Dark Funeral, so the turn taken seems to be brutal. In 2000, the line up explodes, and only Obsidian C. continues to compose on behalf of the band he founded, but does not find other musicians (notably not a drummer fast enough) to help him continue and is forced to put Keep Of Kalessin in brackets. In the meantime, he was embarked on the Satyricon adventure, after a obviously popular hearing organised by Satyr. In the adventure, he meets of course the legendary Frost , one of the fastest drummers of the scene, but also Atthila Csihar during shows in the company of Mayhem , who both agree to bring their participation in Keep Of Kalessin for an EP. Needless to say, the case is a big promotion for the name Keep Of Kalessin, and Reclaim raises the group among the elite of Norwegian black metal bands, even though it remains of very good quality. Clearly wearing the paw of the two luxury guests playing on it, this record is nevertheless the work of Obsidian and clearly shows the future evolution of the band with always brutal compositions, but much more grips of epic melodies and airy passages, highlighted by a very clear production and to the honor of Frost and Attila. After this episode, Vyl, attracted by the evolution of his former band, decided to return to the line up, and several other musicians finally proposed to form a solid formation again. This is how the third combo album, Armada, was released in 2006. In 2008, after a label change (to go to Indie Recordings) the band continued its epic epic epic with Kolossus .
