Kickback
Biography
Kickback is a band formed in 1991 by Stephen Bessac (Chant), Fabrice Fortin (Battery), Patrick Vandewalle (Guitare) and Jean-Marc Quere (Basse). Initially, the band was heavily influenced by the New York Hardcore and released a demo and a first ep in 1992, No One Gets Out Alive. Their first concert took place at the Hardcore Riot Festival at the MJC in Saint-Denis and the band was later in the first part of Agnostic Front and Sick Of It All. In 1994, Pascal Pastore (Basse) joined Kickback to record the first album, Cornered , which appeared at Century Media Records and Hostile Records the following year. Several concerts take place with among others Mass Hysteria, Slayer, 25 Ta Life, Gwar, The Exploited or Madball. After the departure of Patrick Vandewalle and Fabrice Fortin in 1996 replaced by Boussad Lacheb (Guitare) and Irvin Oziel (Batterie), Kickback gave him even more violent follow-up in 1997 entitled Forever War. Stephen Bessac is inspired by Gaspard Noé's films (many samples are taken from his films) and his texts refer to nihilism, criminal hedonism and Marquis de Sade's literature. Boussad did not stay long in the band, so Irvin took care of the guitar while Simon Doucet was recruited behind the drums to ensure the concerts. The band quickly became known by its violent, uncompromising and provocative performances, even insulting the audience on stage. The 150 Passions Meutrières , a new ep, appeared in 2000, then Kickback was quite discreet in the years to come. Against all expectations, Kickback came out of his peasy suburbs in 2009 with a new line-up with the arrival of Damien (Guitare - Diapsiquir , Arkhon Infaustus ), Warner (Guitare - Right 4 Life , Nevrotic Explosion ) and Hervé Goardou (Batterie - Puss In Boots ), but above all a new album under the arm. No Surrender , increasingly nihilist and further into darkness, sees their Hardcore mixed with other musical styles such as Thrash-Metal, Black-Metal largely influenced by Damien's guitar game. A new album, And The Devil Rit With Us , was released in 2011.
