Killswitch Engage
Biography
Formed in 1999 in Massachusetts, Killswitch Engage is the result of a recomposition of several other bands including Overcast (Mike D'Antonio, bassist), Aftershock (Adam Dutkiewicz and Joel Stroetzel, drummer and guitarist) and Nothing Stays Gold (Jesse Leach, singer). Once drummer Tom Gomes joins them, the quintet is ready to start his musical career by offering us in 2000 their first eponymous album. They then became known, among other things, by performing the first part of the In Flames tour, which earned them a signature a year later on the roadrunner records label, which was so coveted. Alive Or Just Breathing was born in 2002, in the continuity of the first album, aggressive, thoughtful and effective but with better sound work, Roadrunner obliges. The fame gained by their international tour accompanying their second opus, Killswitch Engage already works on the successor of Alive Or Just Breathing and delivers us in 2004, after a small reshaping of the formation (Howard Jones taking place behind the microphone), the very good The End Of Hearthache. The band then became one of the lead of the metalcore that exploded in the charts, in 2005 the band released the DVD live (Set This) World Ablaze , recorded at home the DVD does justice to the energy released on stage by the band. In 2006 they come back with a new album: As Daylight Dies , an album without surprise that continues in the melodic Metalcore furrow without taking too much risk.
