Kreator
Biography
Kreator formed under the name Tyrant in 1982 in Essen (Germany) under the line-up Mille Petrozza (Chant / Guitar), Jürgen Reil (Battery) and Rob Fioretti (Basse). Shortly afterwards, the competitors renamed Tormentor, took advantage of it to record two demos and finally took the pseudonym of Kreator in 1985 when signing with the label Noise Records.
In 10 days, Kreator recorded his first album Endless Pain and recruited Michael Wulf (Sodom) for a few days of tour. The following year, Pleasure To Kill was recorded with Jörg Tritze Trzebiatowski as guitarist and produced by Harris Johns (Helloween , Voivod ). The Germans go back to the halls and exit the EP Flag Of Hate.
It was not until 1987 that Kreator returned with Terrible Certainty, considered more complex and varied than his predecessors. The popularity of the band grew and they signed ave Epic Records in 1988, which offered them the opportunity of a fourth record: Extreme Aggression, recorded in Los Angeles and in the bins in 1989. Kreator shot in the USA with Suicidal Tendencies but Tritze left the band, replaced by Frank "Blackfire" Gosdzik ( Sodom). Never tired, the musicians recorded Coma Of Souls (1990), which was less successful, but without tainting Kreator's popularity.
With the fall of the Thrash in the early 1990s (of which Metallica , Megadeth or Anthrax will not come out unharmed), Kreator turned to experiments with death and indus. The result is Renewal (1992), which is easier to access and less well received by fans. Trouble begins with Rob Fioretti and Reil leaving, replaced respectively by Andreas Herz and Christian Giesler. Shortly afterwards, Epic broke the contract, forcing the group to turn to GUN Records, which was released Cause Of Conflict, influenced notably by Machine Head or Pantera.
In 1996, another blow to Kreator with the departure of Gosdil and Cangelosi, replaced by Tommy Vetterli ( Coroner ) and Jurgen Reil who signed his return. Thrashes continue their experiments with Outcast and Endorama (Influences of Goth and Ambient). But Kreator did not say his last word and, with the help of guitarist Sami Yli-Sirniö, returns to the thrash of old with Violent Revolution. Various Live DVDs followed, another album, Enemy Of God, while Hordes of Chaos was released in early 2009. At the end of 2010 the band will tour Thrashfest alongside Exodus, Death Angel and Suicidal Angels. Summer 2012 saw the return of the German band with their new album Phantom Antichrist, which will be followed by Dying Alive in 2013.
