Lagwagon
Biography
Originally from Goleta, California and originally called Section 8 (like several other groups), the group changed its name in 1990 and chose Lagwagon . The first 2 years are mainly marked by the incessant changes of line-up then (and above all) by the encounter of combo with Fat Mike which immediately makes them enter Fat Wreck Chords. Being one of the founding pillars of the famous label since its beginnings, Lagwagon has never left it since... At the time of Duh's release, only Joey (sing), Chris (guitar) and Jesse (bass) of the current training are already present. As soon as this first full opus is released (the first demo drawn with an extremely limited number of copies that do not really count), the band appears as a leading sales leader, just like NOFX or No Use For A Name . Marking the punk rock of its fast melodies, the joyous band repeats with Trashed then Hoss before presenting a more masturbated sound and less into it with Double Plaidinum who is also experiencing huge success. Meanwhile, Derrick Plourde (battery) had already left Dave (ex RKL ( Rich Kids on LSD )) and Ken Stringfellow (ex Posies ) had come to occupy the position of vacant guitarist. Chris, another RKL piles up shortly afterwards (in place of Ken) to record Let's Talk About Feelings. At that time, the troupe shot in a large part of the globe, including in Brazil, a tour that was disastrous to say the least... The need for a long break is felt (allowing the side projects to bloom within the band) and it is only 5 years later, in April '03 that we find a real new album by Lagwagon: Blaze (Let's Talk About Leftovers being just a compilation of rarity and demos...) With this cd, the group returns in a few ways to its first loves without neglecting its recent influences. A Live in 2005, from Fat Wreck's Live In A Dive collection, which prefigures the same year, Resolve, an album marked with the seal of tragedy; Derrick Plourde, Joey Cape's former drummer and best friend, died during the recording period. 2008 reconnects with a less sad Lagwagon and an EP as a wink to the passing time: I Think My Older Brother Used To Listen To Lagwagon .
