Biography

Led Zeppelin trained in late 1968 in England on the initiative of Jimmy Page, a former Yardbirds guitarist. He comes to find singer Robert Plant, and together they appeal to bassist studio John Paul Jones and drummer John Bonham, says 'Bonzo'. Originally titled 'The New Yardbirds', the band recorded its first album in a few weeks after giving a few concerts. Shortly after the 'New Yardbirds' became Led Zeppelin , and their Led Zeppelin , released early 1969. This album, although very bluesy (with covers by Willie Dixon), lays the bases of Hard Rock with titles such as Conmunication Breakdown and How Many More Times. The quartet shocked at the time with its innovative music and state of mind "Sex, Drugs and Rock'n Roll". As a result, the English public was very reluctant to this music and Led Zep found his audience in the United States at the end of the Hippies years. Jimmy Page and his peers are stage monsters and perform concerts full of improvisations and energy almost every night.
Led Zeppelin II came out the same year and conquered the whole world. The title Whole Lotta Love is psychedelic to wish and perfectly reflects the mentality of the group, completely crazy and innovative! Very inspired, Led Zep released his third album in 1970 and was a huge success. But it's nothing compared to IV (1971) which had a great triumph, thanks in particular to the legendary title Stairway To Heaven , a real monument in the history of music. The band returned to the forefront in 1973 with a new album with the most modern sound, Houses Of The Holy . After an umpteenth titanium tour, members of the band are exhausted, and Robert Plant loses his voice as a result of the 400 concerts given in four years! He had to be operated and since then has not achieved the excellence of the first albums.
At the end of the contract with Atlantic, Led Zep decided to start his own record company, Swan Song. Under this label the double album Physical Graffiti was released in 1975. That same year Robert Plant and his family had a serious car accident in Greece and Plant was in a wheelchair for a long time. Quite tormented by this between Bonzo's alcohol problems, those of Page's heroin and those of Plant at the bedside of his daughter still hospitalized, Led Zep recorded both well and badly Presence in 1977. This seventh album is much weaker than the previous ones, which did not prevent him from having a great success. At its peak, Led Zeppelin played in stadiums in front of 70,000 people (unimaginable at the time) and made room full at each concert. But here's a new drama about Robert Plant, his son's death... Very affected and depressed, Plant will not be able to return with the band until 1979, when they saw their last real album, In Through The Out Door. Just like Presence, this album is not at the level of the previous ones and many already predict the end of this legendary band. This follows a tour not frankly folichonne because of the substances absorbed by Bonzo and Page, but also because of the voice of again weak and the morale of Plant. In full rehearsals before a new tour, Bonzo was found dead on 24 September 1980 after an overdose of alcohol. Bonzo died at the age of 32, father of two children, he will forever remain in the history of music because of his talented game that influenced more than a generation of musicians. Shortly thereafter, Page, Plant and Jones announced the dissolution of Led Zeppelin . The end of a myth.
Two years after this drama released the album Coda , a record with unrecorded falls. In 1985 Led Zep reworked for a live aid concert with Phil Collins (Genesis) on the drums. Bonzo's son Jason Bonham participated in the band's reformation in 1988, taking the place of his father, but this reformation did not last. During the 1990s members participated in various solo projects and collaborations. Then in 1994 Page and Plant replay together, without Jones, tired of ephemeral reforms. Page&Plant took over Led Zeppelin's titles and played until 2000, when they were dissolved.
Founder of Hard Rock, Led Zeppelin has, within a decade, revolutionized the world of music and influenced a whole bunch of bands. Definitely worshipful and unavoidable.
