Biography

In 2000, Angus Andrew, Aaron Hemphill and Julian Gross left California and moved to New York. Following an announcement, they met two musicians from Nebraska Pat Noecker (bassist, ex-Neuromancer, Urethra Franklin, and Opium Taylor) and Ron Albertson (batter, ex-Mercy Rule) and formed Liars, although at this time Julian Gross did not participate musically in the band and dealt with merchandising during the concerts. Together they compose Liars' first album: They Three Us All In a Trench and Stuck a Monument on Top . Recorded in just two days this first effort shows a very energetic and dancing funk funk, and has a certain success in the post-Punk New York scene of the time. In 2002 the band released two EPs, We No Longer Knew Who We Were consisting of demos recorded in 2000 and Fins To Make Us More Fish-Like on which we find new compositions.
Later that year Julian Gross will definitely join Liars in the drummer position following the departure of Noecker and Albertson, who set out to found the N0 Things group due to creative differences. Now become a trio Liars records They Were So Wronged, So We Drowned with producer David Andrew Sitek (TV On The Radio). This second album, released in 2004, offers music far removed from the band's first compositions, with much more interest in sound texture and atmosphere. He will, however, be badly received by critics. The band then went to Berlin to work on new songs. Two years later Liars released his third album: Drum's Not Dead . Abouti, tribal and almost post-rock atmospheres, this album is based on a rich work of research and experimentation on drums and rhythms. Liars reveals a little more this experimental aspect fed over the years.
Liars , the eponymous album, was released in 2007. While preserving their identity the band offers music with more traditional but always unusual formats. We find this care taken in search of sounds, atmospheres and rhythms. They will later shoot with Interpol and Radiohead. In November 2008 the band is in Los Angeles and is working on a new album.
