Biography

Lionheart is a hard rock band from the United Kingdom, originally founded in 1980 by guitarists Dennis Stratton (ex- Iron Maiden , later in Praying Mantis ) and Steve Mann (ex- Liar , which will later be found alongside Michael Schenker , among others), and the bassite Rocky Newton (ex- The Next Band , Wildfire ), while the positions of singer and drummer are subject to change (we see, among other things, a former Judas Priest and a former Def Leppard behind the drums, and an ex- Tygers Of Pan Tang behind the microphone). Starting in the Hard / Heavy, as the song Lionheart appeared in 1982 on the compilation Heavy Metal Heroes Vol. 2 , they then move towards a more focused AOR style. The first album, Hot Tonight , was released in 1984, but hardly convinces first-hour fans and struggles as much to conquer a new audience. Lionheart finally threw the sponge in 1986, and apart from the compilation of demos Unearthed - Raiders Of The Lost Archives published in 1999 only in Japan, it takes no less than thirty years for the band to surface again. A reformation took place in October 2016 at the Rockingham British Rock Festival. Stratton, Mann and Newton were accompanied by singer Lee Small (Shy , Phenomena ) and drummer Clive Edwards (ex-UFO , ex- Wild Horses ), a line-up that would remain in place when the decision was made to keep Lionheart alive. A new album, Second Nature , was soon launched and released in the summer of 2017. Since then, the band has continued to perform in public and released a Christmas single, Mary Did You Know. In 2020 they released The Reality Of Miracles at Metalville Records and The Grace Of A Dragonfly in 2024.
