Liturgy
Biography
For some, the Black-Metal is not just a musical construction based on extreme saturated guitars, ultra-fast tempos, guttural songs and blasphemous lyrics. Liturgy, originally from Brooklyn, has been one of these bands trying to redefine the genre since 2005, confessing to practicing what they call "the transcendental black metal" and to draw inspiration from more advanced bands from the Noise or Experimental scene such as Swans, Glenn Branca or Lightning Bolt. Hunter Hunt-Hendrix (Chant / Guitar), Bernard Gann (Guitare), Tyler Dusenbury (Basse) and Greg Fox (Battery) released their first experiments on an ep, Immortal Life , in 2008 followed by the album Renihilation in 2009 that propel them on the fronts of the stage like Krallice or Cobalt thanks to an original approach of the genre. After statements that make a lot of noise about what the Black-Metal should be, by its leader Hunter Hunt-Hendrix, attracting as many supporters in his vision of music as strong critics, Liturgy returned two years later with Aesthethica pushing even further their experimental approach. After four years of silence, the band returned in 2015 with The Ark Work, released on the independent label Thrill Jockey, pushing even further their personal vision of music.
