Living Colour
Biography
While he had already acquired a good musical experience alongside Defunkt and Public Enemy, Vernon Reid (guitar) formed Living Colour in 1984 with Corey Glover (song), Will Calhoun (battery) and Muzz Skills (bass). New Yorkers refine their fussionant metal, hard-rock, funk, hip-hop, jazz... and perform several times at the mythical CBGB's: this is where they will be spotted by Mick Jagger in person! The latter will eventually co-produce their first album Vivid released in 1988. A card, especially with their single Cult of Personality that will swell a grammy awards. The group is also labeled "engaged" because of words criticizing the American society of the time and the predominant WASP culture. In 1990 the band released Time's Up, which won't meet the same success, but does not prevent them from embarking for the first edition of Lollapalooza in 1991. Following differences, Muzz Skills left the band in 1992 and was replaced by Doug Wimbish. In 1993 Stain was born with the single Leave It Alone, and the band participated in the BO of the film Judgment Night with a duo alongside Run DMC with Me, Myself&My Microphone. But tensions arise within the group that split in 1995 with the release of the best of Pride. The band reformed in 2001 during the Montreux festival and a tour. A deal with Sanctuary in his pocket, Living Colour then tries to go even further in the experiment with Collideoscope. In 2009 the band repeated with Chair In The Doorway. Their sixth studio album, Shade, is expected by the end of 2014.
