Lostprophets
Biography
Lostprophets was born in 1997 on the side of Wales, not far from Cardiff, on the initiative of Ian Watkins and Mike Lewis respectively drummer and guitarist in the band Punk-Hardcore Public Disturbance. The combo recorded two demos in two years, but it was not until 2000 that the project really took off on the occasion of a first album made with the means of the edges answering the name of The Fake Sound Of Progress. Lostprophets was noticed and the following year, The Fake Sound Of Progress re-released its appearance, this time published jointly with Visible Noise (their label of always) and in Columbia Records' roster, in a new remastered version that allowed it to land in the United States. Things are getting worse for the band, which is propelled on radio and on the scenes of international festivals (Ozzfest, Reading...). The sextet returns in 2004 with its second album which brings them a world renowned: Start Something is a huge success. This time recorded and produced in the United States, the album sells as bread and installs the band in the leading platoon of the current Rock FM artists. MTV will broadcast Burn, Burn and Last Train Home clips in loop. Lostprophets turns relentlessly but loses Mike Chipplin, his drummer and one of his founding members who wants to move towards something else. The band finally finds him a replacement in the person of the very young Ilan Rubin who will finish the recording work started in the meantime by Josh Freese (A Perfect Circle , ex-Guns n'Roses ) for the third album of the band that is to be released - and will be released - mid 2006. Liberation Transmission, composed and recorded under any other conditions than its predecessors also marks a very clear evolution towards Pop sounds. The commercial and radio success is once again at work, especially in Great Britain, but the change of course made ends up consuming the break between the band and some of its early fans. As the pace continues to accelerate, Lostprophets is already preparing a continuation for the following year but quickly abandons its project, the result of the recordings being unsatisfactory by its authors. Lostprophets again lost his drummer on the way, Ilan Rubin went to Nine Inch Nails on tour, but still recorded his new effort in full training. The fourth Welsh album is only released in January 2010 and confirms the direction taken on Liberation Transmission.
