Low
Biography
It was in 1993 that Minnesota saw one of its most cursed cherubs born, at the initiative of Alan Sparhawk (guitar & singing), Mimi Parker (battery & singing) and the original bassist John Nichols. So Low was born, that day he was going to try his entire existence to eclipse. Drawing its course under the yoke of an indie culture, favouring musical minimalism and slow execution, the group stands out in dark colors, making itself the voice of depression, despite it? Often dreaded for its contagious spleen, Low has, however, always shown a certain sense of humour, as evidenced by the anecdote of a recapture of Outkast's "Hey Ya" tube live in the spring of 2004, or this famous participation in a tribute concert to the Misfits in 1998, Halloween evening, all dressed in black and barbouilled with paint body. It is precisely because of one of their valves that they have been given the term "slowcore", a term refuted by the members themselves ("What's the cheese? Slow-core. I hate that word. The most appropriate is anything that uses the word minimum in it, but I don't think anybody's made one up for that "dixit Alan Sparhawk.) Having crossed the 90's with a host of singles, EPs and albums, with very limited echoes despite the novelty and quality of their music, Low came out of its relative anonymity in 2004 by signing with Sub Pop, an indecent label, after having shot with Radiohead. Renaissance and new start for the group that changed its shoulder rifle for the occasion, and the evolution is size: acoustics has left room for an entirely synthetic sound. Beats, synths, a little guitar and bass, the stripped indie rock has become the new glacial wave. Under the eternal yoke of minimalism. Yet still stung by the general public (despite a few waves of download following the presence of his song "Point of Disgust" in an episode of the series Skins , then "Sunflower" in the next (!)) and now abandoned by some fans of the first hour, Low does not seem ready yet for glory. So what? It should be noted that the vocal couple of his music is also a full couple, Alan and Mimi having even two children. Not to mention their musical offspring...
