Biography

Mahumodo is a post-hardcore band from the London stage of the early 21st century, formed in 1998 by leader and singer Mehdi Safa, bassist James Day, Richard Chapple on guitar and Leon Neuville on drums. During the 5 years of activity the line-up undergoes some modifications: In 1998, bass player James Day gave way to Tom Harriman and in 1999 Tom Harriman left the bass to Chris Price. It is not until 2000 that Mahumodo released their first effort from a series of 4 Eps, called Shels, and it is with this first production that Mehdi and his band lay their power and rage that will characterize Mahumodo during the 5 years of his existence. That same year, other changes took place, such as Jonny Renshaw's arrival on the guitar, the change of bass player with Chris Griffiths, while Andrew Pain and Millad Shadrou and finally Tom Harriman recovered the drums left by Leon Neuville. In 2001, Mahumodo emerged Bythewaters, which remained in the line of the first EP, a crude post-hardcore, massive with a much more instrumental structure. In 2002 the line-up is still disturbed by the bass that is occupied by Red Dave, Edwin Matthews and Nick Greenfield, It was in 2003 that April's followed and the ultimate effort Waves , republished in 2007 with additional pieces from the other eps. It was also that year that Steve O occupied the bass until the split of the band.

That same year Mehdi Safa will form his *shels project and go to the United States and release two albums and two eps via his label Shelsmusic. Tom Harriman will join him after a brief stay in the band formed by Jonny Renshaw, Richard Chapple and Ed Gibbs singing, Devil Sold His Soul. Red Dave, who also joined DSHS for a brief moment, went back and played with his group Fireapple Red.
