Manatees

Greg Wynne, Alex Mapard and Paul Heron played in a Drone band called Second To Last. It was after their breach of contract with Lockjaw Records that they decided to form Manatees. Their new style, influenced by bands like Pink Floyd but also Neurosis , now explores the regions of the Sludge, passing through the Post-Rock but also the Doom, while remaining in a fairly progressive register. All this is mixed to release in 2006 their first production under the label Motive Sounds Recordings, The Forever Ending Jitter Quest Of Slowhand Chuckle Walker: An Introduction To The Manatee . It was reissued in 2008 by the Eysofsound label. Meanwhile, the self-produced band in 2007 an EP : We Are Going To Track Down And Kill Vintage Claytah, The Beard Burning Bastard where Eugene Robinson ( Oxbow ) participates as a guest on one of the songs, The Pulp Cut . The following year Manatee released a limited edition split, Manafog, with the band The Freezing Fog under Roadkill Records. It was during that same year that the band signed on Eyesofsound ( Rinoa , Devil Sold His Soul , Bossk ) and saw the reissue of their first album, then in 2009 released their second opus, Icarus, The Sunclimber . They then tour to increase their already very nascent popularity. At the end of 2012, Manatees signed on the label Shelsmusic ( Erlen Meyer , Admiral Angry , Black Sheep Wall , *shels ) for the release of their third album, scheduled in 2013, Helvellyn .
