Manowar

Manowar is a (if not LE) Heavy Metal band founded in Auburn, New York County, in 1980. Created by Joey DeMaio (technician for Black Sabbath at the time) and Ross The Boss (then guitarist in Shakin' Street), Manowar took shape with the addition of Eric Adams (Chant) and Donny Hamzik (Batterie). 2 years after the first steps of the quartet came out Battle Hymns, the first album containing a story by Orson Welles about the title Dark Avenger.
Running 1982, Scott Columbus replaced Donny Hamzik and Manowar recorded Into Glory Pride and started tours through Germany, Bulgaria, Argentina and Japan. The albums followed, Kings Of Metal or Louder Than Hell , accompanied by live (Hell On Wheels or Hell On Stage ) without the popularity of Manowar decreasing. Over the years have remained as the only original members Joey DeMaio and Eric Adams, leaving the guitarists (David Shankle and since 1994 Karl Logan) and the drummer position (taken by Rhino a few years before Columbus' return) to undergo some changes.
The themes covered are focused on Nordic Mythology and Fantasy, and Manowar would have influenced bands like Bathory to create their sound called Viking Metal. The impressions released by Manowar, whether on photos (pains of leathers, long cheveulures or motorcycles) or on artworks (Neck Torso Warrior, usually armed and sometimes accompanied by women with little clothing), are the subject of some mockery, but the group fully assumes this image.
For the short story, the band holds the longest concert record (5 Hours and 1 Minute) since 2008 and the strongest concert record (around 130 decibels). The entire merchandising and recording part is controlled by the band itself and the Manowar label, Magic Circle, has notably signed bands like Rhapsody Of Fire (formerly Rhapsody) or HolyHell.
