Marduk
Biography
In 1990, Morgan Hakansson and Rickard Kalm ended Abhor and created Marduk. The name of the group refers to the Mesopotamian deity Marduk , the guardian god of Babylon (the protector). Legend has it that Marduk terrorized two dragons of chaos: Tiamat and Kingu.
The two companions quickly surrounded themselves with Andreas Axelsson with the song and Joakim Göthberg (known as Af Gravf) with the drummer. Morgan holding the guitar and Kalm the bass. This first training recorded, in June 1991, a first demo: Fuck me Jesus . The style is clear and precise: black metal pure juice. Already, Marduk has a pronounced taste for provocation, the cover speaks for itself. With this demo, Morgan's tape signs at No Fashion Records. The first album Dark Endless was released in 1992 and a new member, Magnus "Devo" Andersson, completed the line-up as second guitarist. But very quickly, the singer Andreas Axelsson leaves the ship. The drummer takes a double hat: drummer/singer. This album allows Marduk to join the Osmose Productions team in 1993. The line-up evolves because Kalm is replaced by Bogge Svensson, better known as B.War. That same year, the band released its second album: Those of the unlight . Thanks to Osmose Productions , Marduk flew on tour with Enslaved in 1994, across Europe. And again, the band evolves: Fredrick Andersson takes the drums, Af Gravf takes care of the song and Devo Andersson leaves the band. At the end of the year, Opus Nocturne , the 3rd album, was released with Dan Swanö for mixing.
The year 1995 marks a turning point. First, the enthusiasm for the band is growing and the Fuck me Jesus demo is reissued with the original cover. Then, because Af Gravf leaves his position as a singer. It is the singer of the formation Ophthalamia (Black Metal) who recovers the microphone. This is Erik Hagstedt, world-famous for his stage name: Legion. The following year, in June, Heaven Shall burn when we are gathered landed in the ferries. He is recorded in the studio Abyss, studio by Peter Tägtgren ( Pain , Hypocrisy ). The band signed its most successful album since the beginning of its career; The press and fans make him a masterpiece.
The band is spinning a lot. Morgan and his crew released their first live album, Live in Germania, in 1997. Again, the pouch is scandalous: the German eagle is associated with a Nazi symbol. The band will play with this, although it will deny the accusations of this kind every time. No Fashion Records exploits the Marduk line by exiting a mini cd called Here's no Peace in 1997. It is a collection of old recordings, including a cover of Woman of dark desire by Bathory (which appears on Under the sign of the black mark) In 1998, the group plunged the nail into violence. Nightwing , recorded at the studio Abyss, ravages the ears of fans and neophytes. Divided into two chapters, this opus opens what is common to call the trilogy of the Blood of War and Death. The group has a line-up that has stabilized. Without warning, less than a year after Nightwing (released in April) Marduk returned in January 1999, with his fastest, most crude opus, Panzer Division marduk. Continuing this famous trilogy, Panzer deals with war and the many angry samples are there to remind him. This album divides fans and the music press, some shouting at the exploit, others wailing at the sound boil. The Osmose Productions collaboration ends with Panzer division marduk, Morgan deciding to release the next albums on his Blooddawn Productions label. The second live album, Infernal Eternal, was released in 2000 by Blooddawn Productions. The same year, an EP, Obedience, was served as an aperitif before the next album.
In 2001, the great macabre dance is available in the bins. This album closes the triptych started by Nightwing . The dark and unhealthy atmosphere seduces most fans. For the band, the great macabre dance means the end of Fredrik Andersson's drummer position. Emil Dragutinovic, an illustrious unknown debauched in a local group in the city of Morgan, takes up the stool behind the drums. On World Funeral, released in 2003, Emil takes his first steps.
The following year is a new pivotal year for Marduk . The band succumbs to DVD support and releases Funeral steps and Warsongs . Then Legion is thanked by Morgan. Cordial agreement between the two men because Legion wants to do something else and Morgan is looking for a very different person. Daniel Rosten, aka Mortuus, a big cold fellow, becomes Marduk's billiard. His voice gives a darker side to Marduk's music. B.War also left the ship, and Devo Andresson took over. Finally, Plague Angel landed in the bins. Mortuus only poses his voice, because the album was already composed when he joined the line-up. For two years Marduk travels the scenes to roder Mortuus, taking advantage of it to release a live album and two other DVDs. In 2006, Emil Dragutinovic left the drums for Lars Broddesson ( Excessum , Absurdeity ) And it was in 2007 that the new album appeared. Rom 5:12 . Mortuus this time took full part in the composition. The critic greets the darker and more unhealthy side of the album, confirming, in fact, Mortuus' arrival on the microphone.
Two years later, Marduk was still there, and in September 2009, Wormwood snuck into the records with a Marduk still as provocative, followed by Serpent Sermon in 2012, in the meantime released an EP, Iron Dawn in 2011. In January 2015, Frontschwein released a violent album.
