Formed: 1981
Styles: Dream Pop Folk

Biography

Born in 1981, Marissa Nadler moved into an artistic environment very early and gave free expression to her imagination through music, painting or wood sculpture. Assimilated to the dream/freak folk scene, American music evolves in a style influenced by the Gothic imagination and Edgar Allan Poe (to which she refers in her first album, The Ballads of Living And Dying (2004), by putting her poem, "Annabel Lee" in music); Since then, between dark imagination and evanescent characters, Marissa Nadler tells her stories out of time, with her voice of mezzo-soprano, usually accompanied by a melancholic guitar, through a scattered discography but always sublimated by the presence of her ghosts.
