Biography

Master is an American death metal band formed in 1983 in Chicago, Illinois, by guitarist and singer Paul Speckmann. The group is regarded as one of the pioneers of the genre, particularly known for its influence on death metal, as well as its longevity in the international metal scene. Originally, we find Paul Speckmann, a musician who previously played in the Death Strike band. After his dissolution, he formed Master with Bill Schmidt (battery) and Sammy Duet (guitar). The eponymous album was released in 1985 by Metal Blade. If he didn't have a great commercial success, on the other hand he became cult among fans of the genre. After releasing several albums, including Simply Master in 1992 and The Spirit of. . in 1996, Master passes through periods of internal difficulties, conflicts and changes of members. These tensions lead to a hiatus of several years, with periods of inactivity. Paul Speckmann is involved in other projects, such as Speckmann Project, without dissolving Master. Master made his big comeback in 2003, releasing the album Four More Years of Terror and continues, since then, his roadman, maintaining a certain ethic.
